Pecan’s Newsletter – Winter 2024

Welcome to the Winter edition of our newsletter

This past quarter marked a major milestone for us as we proudly published the findings of our Culture Fit for the Future research.

As culture experts, we took our passion and expertise in workplace culture to new heights by conducting research into the culture needed for organisations to be ‘fit for the future’. We used the process to test out our new Culture Fit for the Future framework, which sets out the nine traits needed for success. It’s a great conversation starter to assess your own cultural maturity, so you can target resources more effectively for enhanced performance, better results, and greater wellbeing.

If you didn’t catch the report earlier this year, you can read our findings and practical recommendations here for FREE

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed to and supported us during the research phase, and we hope that you will find the report an interesting read.

In addition to our research, there’s much more to explore in this edition. So, grab a cup of your favourite brew and join us as we review the highlights of the past quarter and dive into what’s new and noteworthy.

This Quarter’s featured Insight – Be more Jürgen: Klopp’s people-first leadership at Liverpool FC

Pecan’s co-founder, Andrew Loveless, recently shared an article on the qualities that made Jürgen Klopp a great leader.

Jürgen Klopp has stepped down as Liverpool FC manager. During his time in this role, he has transcended the realm of football to become a well-respected and inspiring figure. What lessons can we learn from Klopp to elevate our own leadership skills?

As we are about to see the last of Jürgen Klopp (for a while in the UK anyway) it feels important to celebrate the traits that make him so charismatic and the leadership lessons he offers.

Andy asks the questions, how does he have this effect on people? And how can we be more Jürgen?

Pecan’s quarterly community meet-up

Pecan’s Directors AndyElla and Penny had the pleasure of hosting our quarterly Pecan Community Meet-Up at Wallacespace. It was an amazing opportunity to reconnect with some of our associates and dive into one of our shared passions—culture!

During the meet-up, we explored emerging themes around culture, discussing both challenges and areas where we’ve found new value. It was a fantastic moment of reflection and learning, especially as we delved into how perceptions of culture have shifted over the years. It’s inspiring to see new language and concepts emerge, replacing outdated ideas with meaningful actions, frameworks and services.

A big thank you to Angella Hill-WilsonVictoria GoldingSorrel Roberts PCCJess Annison OBEPamela L. for dedicating their time and helping deepen our connection with one another and the topic at hand.

Why coaching is the answer to everything

“The best organizations hire managers with a talent for engaging their teams, and they train their managers into effective coaches who consistently deliver meaningful individual feedback that inspires better future performance.” (Gallup, 2024)

As organisations grapple with an ever–changing environment, hybrid and flexible working, multi-generational diverse workforces and growing levels of stress and burnout, we explore why coaching is the answer.

What exactly is meant by ‘coaching’ and why does it make such a difference? Is it something that anyone can do? Does it take more time than normal people management approaches? Here we un-pack some of the mystery of coaching and share examples of how it can help tackle many of the challenges faced by organisations today.
