Welcome to the Spring edition of our newsletter

We’re pleased to say we’ve hit the ground running this year. From forming new partnerships to continuing our work with fantastic organisations, 2025 is already shaping up to be another year of growth, innovation, and—above all—helping organisations shape their culture.

A major highlight is the launch of our Culture Coach Service—a light-touch, high-impact solution designed to equip leaders with the confidence, skills, and tools to embed the right culture and achieve their goals. Refer to Penny’s video below to learn more about this service.

We’re also seeing a rise in interest for our Leading Culture from the Boardroom Masterclass, which is designed for Chairs, Non-Executive Directors, and Executive teams looking to take a proactive approach to their culture.

But that’s not all! In this edition, we’re bringing you even more highlights, insights, and updates. So, grab your favourite brew and join us as we reflect on the last quarter and look ahead to what’s next.

Pecan’s co-founder, Ella Overshott recently shared an article which asks the question ‘have we forgotten the importance of team-building in our haste to ‘get things done’?

In the article, Ella explores the evolution of team-building, referencing Tuckman’s forming, storming, norming, performing model, which has been central to team development for decades. While team-building was once a core focus in workplaces, the pandemic disrupted in-person interactions, and post-pandemic, many organisations have not prioritised it. Despite this, building strong team relationships remains crucial, as “relationship with team members” and “relationship with line managers” are key factors in employee engagement, especially with the rise of hybrid work.

Effective team-building provides significant benefits such as increased engagement, improved mental health, higher retention, and better productivity. However, it is often overlooked due to competing priorities. The article suggests that teams should focus on core elements like clear goals, roles, trust, and psychological safety, with minimal time investment—usually one to two days initially and one day per quarter—leading to substantial improvements in performance and team cohesion. These efforts foster a sense of belonging and connection, making team-building experiences memorable and impactful for everyone involved.

Pecan were on the go - to Monaco!

When we say we’re mobile, we really mean it. In March, Andy and Ella had the pleasure of traveling to Monaco to run a culture and engagement playback with our client’s wider leadership team.

It was a hugely successful trip, filled with discussions, valuable insights, and a real focus on shaping a culture that drives engagement and performance. Being there in person allowed us to connect more deeply, experience the organisation’s culture firsthand, and help leaders align on the next steps to embed meaningful change.

Wherever our clients need us, we’re ready to go. Culture doesn’t stand still, and neither do we. We’re excited to see how this leadership team takes their insights forward—and we can’t wait for the next opportunity to support organisations on their culture journey, wherever that may take us!
